Czech Technical University, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

Our goal is to become a top pedagogical and scientific workplace recognized at home and abroad.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the CTU in Prague has been active on the market of research, education and industry in the Czech lands since 1864, when the independent teaching of mechanical engineering in the Czech lands began and the organisation of the CTU, then called the Prague Polytechnic, was changed into the form of today’s modern university. Since then, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the CTU, which derives its origin from this commencement of teaching of mechanical engineering, has been doing the same thing in the Czech lands – preserving and enriching the achieved knowledge and cultivating creative activity in the form of science, research, development and innovation, providing education and cooperating with industrial enterprises. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the CTU in Prague covers practically all industrial sectors.

Over the past 20 years, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of CTU has been building an ecosystem of cooperation between the university and industrial enterprises in many areas. This is the research and teaching background of the university, consisting of the knowledge of academic staff, often unique instrumentation and experimental base and study programmes for the education of students in the field. The aim of building these and other ecosystems is for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the CTU in Prague to contribute to making industrial enterprises already operating in the Czech Republic competitive in global markets with benefits for the economy and standard of living of the Czech Republic and to make the Czech Republic a sought-after attractive country for research, development and production of new high-tech products with high added value. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the CTU in Prague is thus actually becoming a catalyst for the development of the Czech Republic’s economy.
